going HOME (soon)!

"Do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised." Hebrews 10:35-36

Okay so, yes, it's true; the plan is to take him home "before next weekend." Can you believe it?
Needless to say, he had a AWESOME day and took all 8 bottles, weaned his oxygen and is doing everything they are expecting him to do.....
The discharge checklist has begun. They attempted to do his Hearing Screen today but he wouldn't fall asleep like they need him to be, so they will try again tomorrow. He will also have a developmental exam on Monday. He will go home on a "whisper" of oxygen (1/10 L) so they have ordered the oxygen tanks and Apnea monitor for us. They are starting to schedule ALL the appointments we will have to make it to within the next few weeks.

Please pray that Coy continues to thrive and take all his bottles w/out desats or bradys; pray that his Brain MRI is normal; pray for us as we prepare for our little man to be home; pray that we are able to take him home next week. Please pray that we are able to bring him home next week.

God told me last week that Coy would be going home soon. My heart is at peace and full of joy. There are many things that could happen between now and next weekend that would prevent our discharge, but I am not going to stand in fear of those things. God has promised me and I trust in Him.

I truly believe that this is God's plan for Coy to go to his home with his family. Coy has touched so many people and will continue to do that with the rest of his precious life. I am so happy that God has promised you this comfort and peace. Your time at the hospital will continue to strengthen you each day as you spend your life with your new son. The time is just right. Praise the Lord for He is so great!

Love Always,
Melissa Williams

That is such awesome news! I am so happy for you, Chris and of course, baby Coy! He is such a little miracle and he has defied the odds with every day of his young life. This is the news you and Chris have dreamed of since he was born - to be going home. And, to be going home before his actual due date is nothing short of miraculous! You both have been so strong through all the ups and downs in the NICU and you have been an inspiration to so many people. Coy's story (and your story of faith and trust in God)has reached so many who needed to hear it - including me. To see how God has worked through you to touch so many other lives is truly inspirational! I will continue to pray that all goes well this week and that your dream will come true this weekend (or before!) May God continue to bless your family.
Love,
Reyne

first off, Happy birthday CHRIS!!! what great news to receive on your birthday!, i seriously almost busted into tears when i heard that he is getting ready to go home! What a better present to receive. If God can save the life of a 23 week preemie, how little are the little bickers and quarrells that seem to "plague" our annoying normal and vague lives. When God shows us his power, there is little than we can do other than be still and soak it all in. So, right now, in this moment I am still and soaking in all that God has done for my brother in Christ, Coy, and comparing his struggles as not even an infant, to the ones that I think are plaguing me so much. I said this before... This is GOD's Victory, but we all are sharing in the celebration. Praise be to GOD, the everlasting.

I am so thrilled and thankful for the good news that Coy is going home this week. I check your blog numerous times daily (some days I was almost afraid to look) and have been reminded how great God is. Coy is a special child that is such a fighter. You, his parents, have reacted beyond belief and have been an inspiration to us all. I, as many, have come to feel that I know you personally and have shed many tears and enjoyed many smiles during this long journey of yours. I have forwarded your blog to many friends so they could join us in prayer for your precious little man. CONGRATULATIONS to you, the doctors, nurses, all care givers, and to COY for a job well done.
